During a stay with my dad in New Mexico, his tractor caught my eye. There was a great place for a workout! With a little imagination, you can literally exercise anywhere with Resistance Tubing. When you want to incorporate strength training (we all need to) and think you need to have the free weights or machines, it can create excuses if you don’t have access to them.
Some great reasons to choose exercise tubing for your workout:
***always get your Doctors release before digging into exercise; in most cases, they’re thrilled that you’re taking action!
- Going to the gym feels intimidating and you want to do something on your own.
Although for some, the energy of the gym is incredibly motivating, the group atmosphere isn’t for everyone. I’ve heard countless times from clients that they feel judged and miserable there. Learning how to properly use the bands in private may just serve you up the confidence to apply the same knowledge to the weight room if that’s your desire! (or you can just master them for yourself and kick butt at home!)
- You travel often and don’t find it convenient to pack your dumbbells 🙂
These puppies travel so easily! They’re super light and can be used in so many different ways. There’s a door attachment to use for anchoring, and there are shorter and longer versions for upper and lower body work. If you’re not one that likes to hit the hotel gym (or get razzed by friends or family members who don’t get why you want to work out while away from home,) you’ll love these!
- Simplicity is important; fancy isn’t necessary for you to enjoy getting your strength on.
I’ve had numerous questions asking which is best to build strength? Free weights? Machines? Body weight? Resistance Bands? The answer is whenever you’re working against gravity, you’re good to go, and bands pack some punch!
- You don’t have a lot of room to store extra work out toys at home.
Resistance tubing takes up very little space. As long as you keep your tubing equipment in a cooler place (out of direct sun or extreme heat) they will serve you for a long time! (always check your tubing for nicks though, you don’t want to find out the hard way that they may have come in contact with something sharp that compromised the integrity of the rubber! OUCH!)
- You want a variety of resistances (weight) for less money so progression is already within your reach.
Usually, when purchasing dumbbells, you pay by the pound. Even when you start out, you’ll need lighter weights for some exercises than others.(e.g, most people can lift heavier when working biceps than when working shoulders. For lower body exercises, heavier weights are almost always needed compared to upper body exercises.) When purchasing resistance bands, you come out way ahead when it comes to the bucks you put out.
I’ve been sharing resistance tubing for many years, it’s still one of my favorite go-to pieces of equipment. The end goal is for your exercise time to be as efficient and effective as possible, and you can get after it in a short time with resistance tubing. Learning the basics and proper form is very important, so initially, there is a little skin in the game. (I do virtual training with video chat/Facebook Messenger/Zoom and Skype, so even if you’re very distant I can help if you need it!)
If you’re a DIY’er and want to try the bands, you can check them out here. I love questions, so please don’t hold back. I hope this post about exercising anywhere with resistance tubing has helped you to move forward with something new. When you’re open to trying new ideas, you are sure to come out with something in your favor!
